- heavyweight sumo wrestler; by the Japanese Ministry of Justice;
- in Tokyo. The move clears the way for the injury-ridden Konishiki,
- whose career has been faltering, to retire and become a sumo
- stable master. The first foreigner to win champion status, he
- reportedly charged in 1992, then denied saying, that racial
- prejudice had kept him out of the grand-champion ranks.
